Ludlow's long established wine merchant Bentley's recently paired up with another local B, namely Bill of the eponymously named restaurant.

The two B's are bringing a monthly meal and wine pairing to Ludlow's dining scene - be sure to sign up to the respective mailing lists to be first in the know, but we can reveal that this months menu features asparagus.  Spotting asparagus on a menu is always a reliable harbinger of Spring.  Lovely local Asparagus - tasting even better if prepared by local experts.

Will, at Bentley's Wine Merchants informs us that the pungent, distinctive flavours in asparagus are notoriously hard to pair with wine, but Austria's signature grape Gruner Veltliner is the one that really does the job. Not mainstream, but if you have not tried it you really should.
