Travel To Ludlow

Getting to Ludlow is easy. Here are our travel tips if you are coming by road, rail or coach. Once here Ludlow is easy to explore by foot. The town centre is situated on a small hill, but once you're there it's largely flat ground.

By Road
Ludlow is situated on the A49 approximately half way between Shrewsbury and Hereford, Sat Nav to the town centre is SY8 1AS. From Birmingham head west on the A456 through Kidderminster. From the M5 leave at junction 3, from the north, and continue on the A456, or junction 6 from the south and follow the A449 and A456.

From the South
Enter Ludlow at the first roundabout on the A49 (by the Squirrel pub) via Sheet Rd. Follow this road down the hill, under the low railway bridge (13’3”), then take the second left into Weeping Cross Lane, before the Smithfield Car Park. Continue into Temeside and turn right at the T-junction up Old St. At the traffic lights at the top of the hill, Bull Ring, turn sharp left into King St, round the narrow dog-leg into High St and Castle Sq. Turn left into Mill St and the coach drop-off and pick-up point is on the left (SY8 1AZ).

From the North
Turn off the A49 at the slip onto Bromfield Rd, then straight on via Coronation Ave to Corve St. At the second traffic lights at the top the hill, Bull Ring, turn right into King St, round the narrow dog-leg into High St and Castle Sq. Turn left into Mill St and the coach drop-off and pick-up point is on the left (SY8 1AZ).

From the East 
From Clee Hill on the A4117, go straight over the roundabout and onto Henley Rd. Turn left at the mini roundabout onto Gravel Hill, then right at the traffic lights, down Station Drive and past the railway station. At the traffic lights turn left onto Corve St. At the traffic lights at the top the hill, Bull Ring, turn right into King St, round the narrow dog-leg into High St and Castle Sq. Turn left into Mill St and the coach drop-off and pick-up point is on the left (SY8 1AZ).

By Rail
The Marches Line has hourly through services between Manchester and Cardiff, supplemented by regular through services from Chester and the North Wales Coast. Almost all trains stop at Ludlow. There are good connections at Crewe & Manchester from the North, at Shrewsbury from Birmingham and the Midlands and at Hereford & Newport (South Wales) from London and The South. By Bus
There are regular bus services from Shrewsbury, No. 435 (Mon - Sat), Hereford, No. 492 (Daily) and Kidderminster 292 (Mon-Sat).Traveline 0871 2002233 for more information.New for 2012, from April 7th until the end of September the Shuttle will run between Much Wenlock, Acton Scott and Church Stretton and is named The Wenlock Wanderer.Discover the famed Wenlcok Edge, through ancient woodland and on to the majestic Stretton Hills and the Long Mynd. By Bike

Parking

Park & ride
A cheap and efficient Park and Ride bus service (702, 703, 704) operates from the Eco Park, Sheet Road. The Park & Ride car park at the Eco Park is well signposted from the A49 to Ludlow.

The buses run to and from the town centre frequently from Monday to Saturday, there is no Sunday or evening service.

Pay & Display
On road parking in Ludlow is divided into Red & Blue Zones:
Red Zone - £1.80/hr with a minimum charge of £1.80
Blue Zone – 70p/hr with a minimum charge of  70p
