Traditional Tug O' War: Bull Vs The Feathers
The Feathers has been an inn since 1670 (one of the first 8 licensed houses in England, and reputedly holding the longest continuous license in the country) and hosted cock fighting, prize fighting and housed elections until 1839. Nowadays it is a place to relax before setting out on a sightseeing trip of this historic town.
Unusually, there is a traditional Boxing Day tug-of-war competition between the Feathers and the Bull Hotel across the road, thanks to the two courtyard entrances being conveniently sited opposite each other.
