Walkers Are Welcome in Ludlow
Ludlow has some great walks, suitable for all abilities and we are a great jumping off point for some great hikes in the Shropshire Hills and the Shropshire Way.
Each year Ludlow Chamber (aka Ludlow Guide) pays for the accreditation with Walkers are Welcome, a nationwide initiative launched in 2007 to be ‘welcoming to walkers’. They enable and encourage the development of accredited towns and villages in England, Wales and Scotland to support their communities’ economic growth through the promotion of walking.
At their meeting on 20th January 2025, Ludlow Town Council resolved to continue their decade-long support for Ludlow’s affiliation to the Walkers are Welcome.
The Council recognises that this affiliation and the work of the Ludlow Parish Path Partnership contributes hugely to Ludlow residents’ and visitors’ enjoyment of the great walking which is available in and around Ludlow.
Furthermore, "the Council is pleased that the Walkers are Welcome (WaW) affiliation attracts visitors to our town who will use local shops, accommodation and pubs, and promotes Ludlow as a good place to go walking."
